THE BUZZ

Mummenpansz was first mounted in Calgary's popular Solocentric
Festival of Dance and Theatre (2003).
It was that years' landslide hit, selling more tickets than any other show.

In June 2004, at the Montreal Fringe, the Mummen-Buzz grew quickly. Anita Miotti was becoming known by all as "The Mummenpansz Girl", who the at the 13th Hour Program at Montreal's Bayou Club, made a pant shaped impression on Fringers and Pressers alike, by inviting the show's host into her endlessly stretchy pants, then doing unmentionable things to him with a condom. By her second show, there was a line-up to get into Anita's Mummenpansz.

"What more to say on this piece than it is a product of the soul with poetic gems. A sexy metaphor of a woman's life using dance and many pairs of pants. With an attentive, but not over-bearing ear come hear Anita Miotti tell fascinating stories and create moments. Watch Matt Woodward, the most interesting human pussy cat I've ever seen, and see Mummenpansz".

THE BLURB

What goes on inside a young girls pants when one relationship ends and another one begins? The neighbourhood inside is ripe with preachers and busybodies, and heavy pet swapping.

Here you will meet an assortment of creatures whose voices tell the story of what went on in there, when the small dog left, and the alley cat came around to make me his prey. And there's the elderly British neighbours from under the left knee, gossipy, two faced, neurosi breeding busybodies. Darlene Fishelfeather, from way down south, ready to celebrate my obvious lack of ethical prowess, to say nothing of the weird dreams I have about the cat. The damn cat: purple and black stripes. Welcome to the wonderland of my pants.

THE BIOS

Anita Miotti is a Calgary born performer and choreographer.  She has worked extensively with Calgary's One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre, creating roles such as Lucy in In Klezskavania (a gypsy rock opera), and Lisa in Daniel Denis' These Girls.   Anita is a veteran performer at The High Performance Rodeo, OYR's performance theatre festival in January, having appeared in 7 of the past 10 Rodeo years. She is the Artistic Director of Theatre of the Living Statue. She wrote, and performed Mummenpansz for Calgary’s Solocentric festival. Most recently, she produced and performed a comic book dance series at Dancer’s Studio West, entitled Brava, Dreaming the Superhero.

Matt Woodward has been seen most recently in Calgary with companies such as Mob Hit, and Maple Salsa Theatre. When not acting Matt keeps himself busy playing his violin. It is a rare occurrence for both of his passions to be involved in the same project and Matt is ecstatic to be on the road doing both of the things he loves. Matt is member of the popular Calgary Celtic band, Clanterra, and plays occasionally with international gypsy rockers, The Plaid Tongued Devils.
